The updater backs up program files and tests native WPF before and after copying. It then runs the competitive base action, with separate registry/user/power recovery journals. Restart after completion. If the configuration phase fails, the new app remains installed so its Apply/Restore controls and logs are available; the updater reports failure rather than claiming a successful tune.
